The Computer Architecture, Communication and Systems Group (ARCOS) is part of the School of Engineering at University Carlos III of Madrid. It was formed in 2001 and and has been able to attract as faculty members researchers from different universities from Spain and other countries as well as from the industry.

Our research activities are oriented to tools and methods for software development, high performance computing and data exploitation and management. Our team puts a special effort on fulfilling the gap between theory and practice, trying to combine real world engineering with the state-of-the-art research topics. Applications have been developed for smart cities, eHealth, and intelligent transport systems.

ARCOS cooperates with well-known international research centers such as Argonne National Laboratory, CERN, IMEC, European Space Agency, University of St. Andrews, IBM Research, Programming Research Ltd., and Univeristy of Linkoping.
